I completed this piece (oil paint and oil pastel on canvas, 39" x 31") today.
How does it make you feel?
What do you see?
The exploration of my abstract expressionist art:
Look through a new window on the world; take an inner journey out of your limited self and into your true self, to a new place, to be more fully you. Let the music within and surrounding the art sweep your mind clean. As Rothko said, I want you to have 'the same religious experience as I had when I created them.' The complex movements and patterns and the mysterious energies of colours are slaves to the vitality of experiences contained in the structure of my ideals. They resist intelligence yet breathe in analysis and interpretation. I know the world barely cares, but barely is an eternal universe to my imagination, my imagination that lives in a place that is not quite mine. Standing on the shoulders of the Abstract Expressionist giants of 1950s New York, I challenge you to connect - a challenge that I predict will be less arduous for future generations.
