Bromsgrove Standard article February 2011

Artists from across Bromsgrove can have their work displayed online free of charge.

Screen 2 has a section devoted to Bromsgrove contemporary art.

The site is open to artists of all ages, abilities and experience - from absolute beginners to professionals.

All artists can send in digital images of their art work (low resolution is best - no more than 1 MB per image) and selected pieces will be displayed at no charge.

This will create a wonderful advertising space for Bromsgrove artists to showcase and sell their work, as well as to share their vision for the art of today.

The website is a central interactive resource for artists at all stages of their art development.

With input from the local community, I envisage the site becoming a vibrant watering hole for art in the Bromsgrove area.

Carol Cox is the Bromsgrove curator who organised the recent '15 Inches of Frame' exhibition at Artrix to give artists the chance to showcase their work.

She said she hoped artists would embrace this latest opportunity.

"I think more encouragement given to such projects will help raise the profile of both the creative talent in the area and the need for outlets for contemporary art.

"There is a wealth of new young talent on our doorstep (NEW College) which, juxtaposed with the established art groups in the area, could create a very interesting narrative.

"Creating a network of artists means everybody learns something new," she added.
